Rainbow Kitten Suprise: Night Two at the Roseland

Updated: Aug 22, 2020

After one sold-out show in Portland, Rainbow Kitten Surprise packed the house for a second night on Sunday.

Their immediately catchy, genre-defying tunes and outstanding live performances have gained them fans around the world and plenty of sold-out shows. Mixing indie rock, folk, and even some hip-hop influences, RKS’s instrumentation and lyricism is striking. With three full-length albums under their belt, the band recently released a couple of songs on a B-Sides last month.

Kansas City’s own The Greeting Committee opened up the show to an already full and excited crowd. The band’s energy was contagious, and they radiated happiness in being on stage and sharing their indie-pop. Singer Addie Sartino moved around the entire stage and interacted with the crowd, including a mini crowd surf near the end of the set.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise was met with a buzzing audience, ready to sing every line back to the band. Nearly the entire quintet moved around the stage during the set, bouncing along to each song. Singer Sam Melo’s dance moves and interactions with his bandmates brought more movement to an already flowing and diverse set of songs both new and old.
