American Authors and the Band of Brothers Roadshow

Updated: Aug 22, 2020

Friday night, American Authors and Magic Giant packed the Wonder Ballroom as part of their unique co-headlining Band of Brothers Roadshow.

PUBLIC opened up the show with their pop hits, and even a high-energy cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” to get the crowd pumped up and ready for the headliners.

As soon as a big Plinko board was pulled on stage, it was clear this wouldn’t be like any other concert. The game decided which band would perform first and Magic Giant took the stage to kick things off with a few songs.

Rather than playing a full set, however, the band left the stage after just a few songs, the lights went down for a moment, and seconds later American Authors burst on stage with hits like “Believer” and “Go Big or Go Home” for their first small set. Vocalist Zac Barnett bounced around stage song after song the whole night, and the addition of the banjo had the crowd going wild. The band had the crowd singing along and jumping to the beat through songs old and new.

Each band played some acoustic tracks before switching one last time for a second set.

Along with the back-and-forth sets, supergroup performances of originals and covers with members from Magic Giant and American Authors rounded out the night.

I loved that this show was truly a co-headliner with a lineup of incredible musicians. The transitions between each set were seamless, and by flipping the regular concert layout on its head, you never knew what would be coming up next.
